Alternate Space: St. Monica and St. James Church

Sometimes when our current venue isn't available we hold our sessions at the social hall of Saint Monica and Saint James Episcopal Church on Capitol Hill. This has been the jam's home at many times through our history, including for much of the 1980's, 1990's, and early 2000's. Most recently, we were there during August and September, 2022, and several times as a fallback space while we've been at Dance Place.

  • You reach the Parish Hall by taking the northernmost gate to the church grounds on 8th street, then walk through the small garden to the door furthest from and facing the gate. If the door is closed knock on the door or the window and one of us will let you in.

• It’s a 20-minute walk from Union Station Metro and a 13-minute walk from Eastern Market Metro station (Google Maps)

• Bikes:

  • There's space outside of the main door to lock your bike.

  • There’s a Capitol Bikeshare dock that's a 3 minute walk from the church entrance.

• Cars:

  • Car parking can be found in the residential neighborhoods around the church.
